Managing stress

Life’s ups and downs often catch us out, as if we were living scenes in a film, which are sometimes too melodramatic and end up affecting our everyday lives. That is when we become trapped in a vicious circle of stress, strain and anxiety which is hard to get out of, because sometimes we are incapable of disconnecting from work, family life or just problems in general. We cannot.

This is because we take on too many different tasks and, when we are responsible for these, we suffer when we are unable do them all or we simply don’t have enough time. This leads to a feeling of frustration and fatigue that produces stress.

Managing the moment, managing life itself, affects our body and our skin. We defend ourselves through hormonal mechanisms and substances that prepare use for the action, for the task, for resistance and for defence. But very often we forget about ourselves and about generating the opposite effect: relaxation, compassion and a serene adaptation to reality.

The truth is that excessive stress in life has a negative effect on the skin and on other many parts of our body. There are socio-physiological therapies, such as the new mindfulness or the search for full awareness, which are designed to guide us through the knowledge of oneself and the current moment in order to manage stress and accept it, as well as accepting ourselves.

Today we are going to give you some tips so that you learn how to stop, see and feel, before reacting and for you to get to know and manage your feelings better. That is how you will get your skin to be a true image of the lucid and happy you, which we know is within you.

Tips for you and your skin

Discover yourself

We recommend stopping, observing, perhaps reading something and living your life moment-to-moment. Don’t run, enjoy. Don’t waste time judging yourself or others. Trust in what you have done and what you will do, without establishing limits. Try to keep an open mind, cultivate it so that it shows an interest in everything that provides your life with value. Remember that just looking for results is not enough; look at the process, how things happen and savour the journey. Accept yourself and the reality that surrounds you, learning from others, but letting go of what prevents you from moving forward.

Dedicate time to yourself

Use part of the day to gently cleanse and hydrate your skin. Make that head massage and skin exfoliation moment allow your skin to go back to its normal state.

Exercise

Gentle exercise enables your cardiovascular system to function better and your skin to physiologically respond to temperature changes. Gently cleanse your skin after exercising, to eliminate any impurities that gather in the outer layers of your skin and in your pores.

Rest

Plan you day and spend a few minutes a day, a few hours a week just looking after yourself and pampering yourself. This is a good time to use a treatment mask and then a cream with a deep moisturising action.
